Funchal, Madeira

Same cocktail.
Your choice.

A bar where every drink is crafted twice: with spirit, or without.

Philosophy

We believe the ritual of a great cocktail belongs to everyone, not just those who drink alcohol.

01

Identical by Design

Every cocktail exists in two forms. Same glass, same garnish, same craft. We use premium spirit alternatives (Sober, Abstinence, Whissin, Lyre's), not juice substitutes.

02

No Hierarchy

Your glass receives identical attention regardless of what's in it. Our bartenders train in zero-proof technique with the same rigour as classical cocktail craft.

03

Educated Curiosity

We host guided tastings, wine pairings, and education evenings that explore the growing world of non-alcoholic spirits, with producers who share our philosophy.

The Cellar

Wine, reconsidered. Everyone poured for.

Our wine list runs parallel to the bar menu: a curated selection of non-alcoholic wines, from crisp whites and structured reds to fine sparkling, from producers who treat de-alcoholisation as craft, not compromise.

Dietary care, built in. A number of our non-alco wines are vegan, and select bottles carry halal certification, for guests who choose alcohol-free by conviction as much as preference.

Lighter, too. Most of our non-alcoholic spirits and wines also carry meaningfully less sugar than the alcoholic originals they're modelled on, not just less alcohol.

Madeiran Classics, Reconsidered

The island's favourites, poured your way.

Poncha and pé de cabra arrive at Zero Club in two characters: the traditional Classic and a full Zero alcohol-free version. The crowd-favourite sangria goes a step further, with a Light low-alcohol edition too. Same ritual, same glass, your call on how far to go.

Poncha

Madeira's original cocktail: aguardente, honey, and citrus, muddled to order. Ours is available full-proof and fully alcohol-free.

Classic Zero

Pé de Cabra

A Câmara de Lobos tradition: wine, dark beer, cocoa powder, and lemon zest, stirred together. Bittersweet and chocolatey, unlike anything else on the island. Available full-proof and fully alcohol-free.

Classic Zero

Popular Sangria

Our take on the crowd-pleaser: fruit-forward, chilled, and endlessly refillable. Available Classic, Light, or Zero for the whole table.

Classic Light Zero

Madeira-Style NA Wine

In development: an alcohol-free wine crafted to mimic the nutty, caramelised character of Madeira's own fortified wine, so no-drinkers can taste what the island is famous for.

Who's Behind It

Hi, I'm Kasia.

Zero Club Madeira started as a very practical problem. About ten years ago I decided to cut back on alcohol, and some of my friends stopped drinking altogether, which meant I suddenly needed something worth serving at my own parties. That sent me down a long path of tasting and hunting through every non-alcoholic wine and spirit I could find, back when the category barely existed in Poland.

Between 2013 and 2017 I travelled to Georgia three times, following its wine culture back to the source. One trip was built entirely around visiting producers across the country, from small family qvevri wine cellars to the historic Sarajishvili brandy house, and it shaped how I think about tasting and craft ever since.

Between 2014 and 2016 I ran Cydromania, a Polish cider blog that was quite popular at the time. It opened doors to cider tastings, fairs, and parties, and took me to traditional sidrerías in Spain. Cider still holds a special place in my heart, which is why I'm excited to have found a very good French non-alcoholic cider that I'm working on bringing to the bar.

My day job has been in IT and software quality, not hospitality. But the tasting never stopped being a serious hobby: during the pandemic I trained in closed mixology classes in Warsaw, alongside vodka and wine tastings with a strong focus on Polish and Czech producers.

Zero Club Madeira is what happens when ten years of curiosity finally gets a home.

My Notebook

The Professional Hybrid Mixology Journal.

This notebook has grown alongside me and everything I've learned. Every non-alcoholic replacement I've tested, every ingredient swap, every modification that got a flavour closer to the original spirit: it's all logged inside, what worked, what didn't, and why.

A new edition of the Professional Hybrid Mixology Journal will be available on Amazon soon, so other bartenders and home hosts can build on a decade of notes instead of starting from zero.
